Inspiration from @kendallgrey1 and Letty Dillinger #HardROCKHarlots

Welcome back to Center Stage here at the new House of Taboo! I’m Luscious Lia Michaels and your host for today’s festivities. Like many authors and artists, I’ve gone through my fair share of self doubts and had stopped writing for short (sometimes longer) periods. Having your work slammed by people who never read a word of it can be demoralizing to say the least. I welcome reviews—even bad ones if they offer constructive criticism. Personal attacks are only put out there so the reviewer can have their time in the Mean Girl Spotlight. They can have it. As soon as that “fame” fades, they’ll find themselves out in the cold again and they’ll have to find another target. I’ve got news for them…

We’re. Not. Going. Anywhere.

Try as I might, I can’t silence the characters in my head screaming for their stories to be told. I can’t stop those who love my work from pestering me to publish more books. I’m not the only one standing up for my art. You may not like everything I write or what another author writes, and that’s okay. There are plenty of authors to choose from with books that will probably fit your tastes. How about sticking with those and leave the rest of us alone? Let our readers enjoy our work and stop trying to put us into categories and boxes you decided we had to fit into.

We’ll. NEVER. Fit.

If you’re wondering what helped me move forward through the self doubts, look no further than the wonderful author/artist community and my fans. They’ve talked me from the ledge on more days than I can count, sometimes several times a day. Author Kendall Grey’s heroine Letty Dillinger brings it all home in the video below. I love that bad ass bass player! She’s at the top of my book girlfriend list. Huge chick crush. You’ll understand when you read her story in Kendall’s Hard Rock Harlots series.

Letty doesn’t fit into your classic heroine category and I wouldn’t have it any other way. You shouldn’t either. If you’re a reader, an author, or any other artist who doesn’t fit into the “popular” categories and boxes, EMBRACE it! Ride that Mother Fucker into the ground!

Salute!

~Lia
